Mexasing · 16 years
Mexasing turns 16 and launches clubs.
Mexasing was founded on 28 October 2010. Thank you to everyone who has kept it going since.
Since 2010
Sixteen years of volunteer work.
Since 2010, Mexasing has brought the Mexican community in Singapore together through gatherings, workshops and celebrations, and has shared our culture on an island that, for many of us, also became home.
That work has names. It was carried by the committees that followed one another over sixteen years, by those who gave their time as volunteers, and by everyone who came to an event, helped set the table or brought someone along.
A community far from home lasts because someone decides to look after it. What starts now rests on that work. To all of those people, thank you.
A new chapter
Why clubs.
The Mexican community in Singapore is always renewing itself. Some have just arrived, some have been here for many years, and some have already gone back to Mexico, leaving friendships on this side. With every arrival, interests and ways of meeting change too.
The community itself has been showing this. Over the years, its members created a number of WhatsApp groups around shared interests and activities. Those groups showed the way.
That is why Mexasing is launching clubs around those interests: so it is easier to find your place, join what matters to you and propose what is missing.
What matters most stays. Mexasing will keep organising the celebrations that come with us far from home (Day of the Dead, Posadas, Three Kings’ Day and Mother’s Day), open to the whole community, with nothing to sign up for.
Mexasing clubs
Four clubs to start with.
Choose yours when you register. The community decides until 31 October.

Food
Cooking our food with what you find here.
Cooking is the most everyday way we carry Mexico with us, and in Singapore much of daily life revolves around hawker centres. UNESCO recognises both traditions as intangible cultural heritage. The club brings them together: Mexican cooking and baking workshops with ingredients you can find here, shared meals, and hawker centre walks to get to know the country through what it eats.

MexaSocial
Get out, meet people and discover the city together.
There’s always something on in Singapore: festivals, exhibitions, concerts, night markets. MexaSocial is the excuse to go as a group. A karaoke night, a ladies’ night, an afternoon at a museum or a weekend festival: the idea is that there’s always a plan and someone to go with.
- Museums and exhibitions
- Festivals and concerts
- Karaoke and ladies’ night
- Board game nights

Sports and Walking
Seeing the island on foot, on court or on a run.
Moving helps you feel at home in a new city, and Singapore makes it easy: trails through the forest that still surrounds its reservoirs, kilometres of connected parks and mornings that invite you out early. The idea is that nobody starts alone: a tennis or padel partner, a group to run with or company for a weekend walk.
- Tennis and padel
- Golf
- Pick-up football
- Running and races
- Weekend walks

Kids and Family
So Mexico is part of their childhood too.
Many children in our community grow up between several languages and cultures, and sometimes know Mexico mostly through holidays and stories from home. The club gives them their own version of Mexican culture: the games, traditions and words many of us grew up with, shared with other families living the same thing. For parents, it is also a close network, far from grandparents and cousins.
- Making a piñata
- Planting your bean
- Traditional games
- Family outings and celebrations
