Mexasing Community Guidelines

Eight rules for Mexasing events, WhatsApp groups and social media.

Mexasing brings the Mexican community in Singapore together and seeks good relations with the rest of the country.

These rules apply at events, in WhatsApp groups, on social media and on any Mexasing platform.

1. Treat everyone with respect

Different experiences, opinions and backgrounds are part of our community.

Disagreement is welcome; personal attacks, harassment, intimidation, insults or deliberately hostile behaviour are not.

2. Respect Singapore’s diversity

Singapore is a multicultural and multi-religious society.

We ask everyone to engage respectfully with people of all nationalities, races, religions, cultures, genders and backgrounds.

Racist, discriminatory or demeaning comments have no place in Mexasing.

3. Keep Mexasing a community space

Our platforms exist primarily to help people connect, exchange useful information, participate in community activities and support one another.

Please avoid spam, repetitive messages, unsolicited advertising or content unrelated to the purpose of the community.

Relevant recommendations and useful information are welcome if you say when you have a stake in what you recommend.

4. No political campaigning

Mexasing is a non-political community organisation.

Our platforms and events may not be used to campaign for political parties, candidates or political movements, or to organise political activities on behalf of Mexasing.

Respectful conversation about current affairs may take place where appropriate, provided it does not turn Mexasing spaces into platforms for political campaigning or mobilisation.

5. Protect people’s privacy

Do not share another person’s personal information, photographs, conversations or contact details without appropriate permission.

Information shared within community groups should be treated with reasonable discretion.

6. Share responsibly

Members are encouraged to help each other, but community conversations are not a substitute for official professional, legal, medical, immigration or government advice.

When possible, distinguish personal experience from verified information and point others towards official Singapore or Mexican sources for matters that require authoritative guidance.

7. Commercial activity should add value

Mexasing is a community, not an advertising board.

Businesses, professionals and entrepreneurs may participate as members of the community, but repeated solicitation, unsolicited direct messages, misleading promotions or excessive commercial posting are not acceptable.

Specific spaces or opportunities for community businesses may be created by Mexasing from time to time.

8. Help us keep the community healthy

If something makes you uncomfortable or appears inconsistent with these guidelines, contact the Mexasing team rather than escalating the situation publicly.

The Mexasing team may moderate content, ask members to change their behaviour, remove posts or, when necessary, restrict participation in Mexasing-managed spaces.

We moderate proportionately and apply the same standard to everyone.

In short

Treat others as a good neighbour would.
